Week ending 10th January

In this week nothing unusual happened. Couple of good things happened, first time in my life we get any house/flat without any difficulty. We are too much thankful to God for that blessing as getting a house in Varanasi was the biggest struggle of our life and my mother passed away without fulfilling this dream. There were so many painful anecdotes related with getting a house. Be it numerous court cases, or papa had to wake 4am in morning to get hold of Purshottam(owner of land of our current house). There are so many other stories related with that struggle which cannot be mentioned here. One thing was sure that my mom passed away without any of these dreams got realized, when ever I am able to do something that helps someone realize their dream, it is the biggest tribute toward my mother. I will keep doing this good deeds for my whole life as I am unable to do anything for that goddess and always returned her love with my naughtiness and arrogance behavior. So all my helping other attitude is to overcome my guilt feeling and with hope that mummy will forgive me when I face her again.
Another good things that happened are on friends front, Mayank had done stellar performance in ISB interview and he will enter a good B school in couple of months I am very much sure about that. Prithvi is able to come to US and first time in last 18 months the issue of visa will not come in our discussion :).
Best days of the week for me in Cleveland are Tuesday and Sunday. Tuesday I go for Hanuman Chalisa Bhajan for 1 hr in evening. I love that atmosphere, unfortunately because of bad weather I could not make it this time. I will look for next Tuesday.
On Thursday I gave my ice breaker speech in Toastmaster. Topic of the speech is "Pay It Forward". Audience had liked my content a lot. They gave me a feedback to slow down and try to work on my accent. I will inculcate those feedback in my next speeches. Rest nothing unusual happened in whole week. I cannot practice for stair climbing for a single day in the last week, I will try to be regular in coming week.
This Sunday as usual I went to the temple in afternoon. In temple lunch has been arranged for 200-300 people. I volunteer for that activity. I love that volunteer work as it include everything from setting of tables to throwing trash. Today we had done extra cleaning in the temple and because of that Praveen Bhai and me had spent at least one hour outside in this cold weather(-10 C) in Cleveland. We felt that our fingers had cut in many pieces at that time. But when we return to temple warmth that I got in form of care is really sweat. Because of good weather(no snowfall) we have more devotees than expected so there was hardly any food left by the time I reached. Surprisingly, couple of aunties had saved all varieties of food for me. I am really touched by that. I am living in Cleveland for only 3 months, but love and concern that I got in temple was amazing. There are many people who make sure that I have eaten my food and also if there are some leftovers there is box already packed for me without my knowledge. It seems we know each other from long time. This reminds me a quote by Indira Gandhi "There are 2 kinds of people, one who do the works and the one who takes the credit". Be in first category there is less competition there. I always try to be in first category :).
After lunch I became crown for 3 kids for 30 minutes or so. I raced with them, we fought, those 3 kids at one side, I am on other side. They pulled my leg and fall my down on ground many time. But there is so much fun lying down on the ground and 3 kids at your top. I don't know may be don't want to grow up, but playing with children like that gave me the most happiness. I take those kids and made them touch roof, throw them in the air and so many other childish activities. I have become a 5 year old for that time, but after that their parents came and take their kids. There is no one to take me, so unfortunately I have to resume my maturity and come back to reality of life. Hope to see a exciting week ahead.

24th October

Its hard for me to understand how people vote, I got further confused by how Indian democracy works by seeing the recent assembly election results. We all know governance of Congress-NCP in Maharashtra, the state was in news for all the bad reasons, be it 26/11, suicide in Vibdharbha, attacks on North Indian or decline of ranking of Maharshtra as powerful state. What good has happen in last years that this government got reelected again? When P Sainath has asked VilashRao Deshmukh to enumerate five achievements of his government for which he is chief minister for most of the time, he failed to list one apart from regular secular crap.
In Mumbai Thane region Raj Thackrey has got 19.2% vote and 8 seats, there are 35% Marathi people living in that region, from this statistics can we conclude that majority of Marathi people support his idea of Marathi Pride. He names his dog as James and bond, send his kids to convent school, drinks english alcohol, still fool people based on Marathi pride. What good has done Raj Thackrey to those people that they have given vote to his party and helped Congress to come in power again. For that matter what Mayawati has done for Dalits, Lalu Yadavs has done for his caste, that they pray them as God, when as Indians we will come out of this sycophant thinking.
Last week we saw a controversial statement by our HRD minister Kapil Sibbal to restrict students for appearing in IITJEE exam if they fail to secure less than 80% marks in class 12th. From last month or so he is too involved in functioning of IIT's and IIM. Its my sincere request to him to keep IIT and IIM issue on back burner and focus on Primary education which I feel is the main cause of income difference in India,do Kapil Sibbal knows how KV and other government school are performing as compared to other private school in Delhi or any where else. He wants to ban Coaching Institutes but Mr Sibal we go to coaching because we don't get good education in school. If you try to find the answer for "Why people who can afford, send children to private school rather than government schools despite many lucrative schemes by government such as Mid day meals etc" ? You can solve most of the education problems in India.
We are discussing a lot about Naxalism and internal security problem in India,I remember a good discussion with one of my friend on this topic, we are arguing who is fighting whom, Is our so called bureaucrats and politicians ever get any time to visit those areas except election time, Who is more close to common tribal a naxalite leader or a politician, we say we are always indebted to person who helps in our bad time, how can our Harvard educated home minister will detach this feeling of obligation of common villagers toward Naxalites, the feeling of Nationalism comes when most of other issues are resolved, thats the reason a person become more patriotic living a comfort life in western countries miles away from India. I got scared by thinking what will happen if Operation Green become a disaster like War in Afganisthan for US, there is nothing wrong in comparing Indian soldiers in Indian villages with US army in Afganistan and Pakistan as I feel both are alien in same way. I will biggest proponent of Naxalite if instead of killing common man they change their target to corrupt bureaucrats and politicians, why provide security and spend tax payer money on some one who is a driver 30 years back, now a multi millionere and have an ambition to become chief minister of Maharasthra. Mayawati is teacher 20 years now she has crores of personal wealth, IAS officer or a judge have no personal wealth when they join the job, if they perform well during their jobs most of them retires with abundant wealth for many generations to come. Can these person will be scared by our non voilence protest or RTI, some one has to take the gun and start killing them one by one, I don't have courage to do this work, but if some one does it I will support him in any means. Any revolution or new Gandhi will not change India untill we see the politicians scared from death if they do any thing unconstitutional.

People don't have time to complain

Constant complaint is the poorest sort of pay for all the comforts we enjoy. --Benjamin Franklin

No Time for Complaining:
There may be a positive byproduct of our troubled times: a decrease in the urge to complain. Job satisfaction is actually up, and according to a December 2008 survey almost 38% of respondents said they were "very satisfied" with their jobs, compared with 28% in 2007, a likely sign that people are grateful they're still employed. And every week now, we hear reports of workers accepting pay cuts or furloughs without complaint -- some of them acts of solidarity to protect jobs elsewhere in their companies. There is also a growing "noncomplaining" movement that touts the belief that whining doesn't work as a strategy. This Wall Street Journal article shares more. [more]

Be The Change:
When you catch yourself complaining about something, try turning your attention to what you are grateful for.

A Positively Charged attitude

The longer I live, the more I realize the impact of attitude on life. Attitude to me, is more important than circumstances, than failures, than success, than what other people think or say or do. It is more important than appearances, talents, or skill. It will make or break a company and a home. The remarkable thing is that we have a choice every day regarding the attitude we will embrace for that day. We cannot change our past . We cannot change the fact that people will act in a certain way. We cannot change the inevitable. The only thing we can do is play on the one string we have, and that is our attitude. I am convinced that life breaks down to the following percentage: 10% is what happens to you and 90% of life is how you react to it. We are in charge of our Attitudes."

May today find each of us making a conscious effort to embrace a positive attitude with grace and peace, no matter the situation in which we find ourselves.
